Why I Watched It: I've seen the rest of Michael Moore's films, why stop now?
What I Thought: Lilyiris reviewed it and mentioned how funny it was. She is absolutely right. Moore was his usual mixture of poignant and abrasive, but he managed to add some genuinely funny bits to SiCKO that distinguished it from his other films.
I was definitely surprised when he opened the film with a man with no health insurance sewing his own stitches, but abruptly switched tracks to say that SiCKO isn't about the X million people with no health insurance. It's about the X number of people that DO have health insurance but STILL can't get the medical attention they need! Being a guy with no insurance, I didn't realize the rest of you have it so bad.
SiCKO was interesting, funny, and educational. An all around good film and I'll actually suggest it even if you didn't like Moore's other films. SiCKO is a new direction for Moore and this Movie Slut is hoping it will become a trend.
Highlights: Canadia (I know it's 'Canada', but Canadia is more fun) humor, the end of the movie with Americans getting free treatment in Cuba, Moore's $12k check to his arch enemy, and the 'cashier' in the British hospital!
Who Should See It: Anybody that has health insurance and anybody that doesn't have health insurance.
How Soon: It'd be a good trip to the theater, but it won't lose anything if you wait for DVD.
