Lifeboat - 1944

What It Is: Alfred Hitchcock movie about a handful of survivors left over when their ship was destroyed by a German U-Boat. As survivors continue to turn up, the lifeboat's passengers realize when of them is a Nazi.

Why I Watched It: A Hitchcock movie that I haven't seen and it sounded interesting.

What I Thought: It was okay. I've seen much, much better Hitchcock fair and I think this kind of psychological thriller has reappeared several times since (though I can't really think of a specific incarnation at the moment).

I'll just leave the bottom line at this: If you want to see a good Hitchcock flick, watch Psycho, North By Northwest, Strangers on a Train, or even Rope. Skip Lifeboat.

Highlights: The German passengers hidden knowledge of English, and all the fun racial stereotypes of the era that managed to sneak into the script.

Who Should See It: Hardcore Hitchcock fans and maybe WWII buffs.

How Soon: Take your time.
