What It Is: Classic sci-fi film from 1967 and, after seeing it, an obvious inspiration for Equilibrium.
Why I Watched It: It's a bit of classic sci-fi history that I've never seen.
What I Thought: Ug. Logan's Run was rough.
The acting was '60s terrible, the plot was extremely spotty, the second half felt way too Planet of the Apes, and there just wasn't enough that was awesome in the movie.
The premise is simple. In a future dystopian society, turning 30 means you give yourself over for "renewal". Renewal obviously isn't a good thing and the few that suspect it run. Sandmen are the elite cops trained to stop these runners. When time runs out for a particular Sandman named Logan, he takes his chances and starts to run.
The Equilibruim parallels should be obvious. If you're in the mood for this type of story, watch that movie instead. Logan's Run can and should be skipped.
Highlights: '60s sci-fi costumes, seeing Michael York as someone other than Basil Exposition, and the crazy cat guy.
Who Should See It: Nobody. It's very skippable.
How Soon: Don't bother.

ugh, thank you for reviewing this...my exhusband wouldn't shut up about how great this was, and went ape when I named my son logan.
however....
Logan is named after the xman wolverine, which is way cooler damnit.
Now I don't even have to watch it because it is skippable.
Thanks :)
It was definitely skippable. Sub-par in almost every sense.
