What It Is: A Clive Owen actionfest that's purposefully light on plot and heavy on the death toll.
Why I Watched It: It looked like a sexy, funny, cheesy, and stylish way to watch a shit ton of baddies get shot. The trailers made it look like an entire movie based on Clive Owen's character in Sin City!
What I Thought: If you haven't seen Sin City and you don't have a problem with copious amounts of over-the-top violence, you need to watch Sin City. If you have seen Sin City and you liked "The Big Fat Kill" story with Clive Owen, Benicio Del Toro, and Rosario Dawson, then you'll love Shoot 'Em Up. It's more of the same in all the best possible ways!
Shoot 'Em Up is the only movie I've ever seen that takes two of our/my/America's favorite things (sex and violence) and not only puts them in the same movie, but ups the ante by putting them on screen at the same time, then ups it again by showing the hero enjoying both at the same time! It's the highest body count in a sex scene ever and if that alone doesn't make a film worth watching, then I don't know what does!
Highlights: Guns on ropes, super carrot vision, a Paul Giamatti that won't die, Clive Owen's bitter anti-hero that hates everything, crazy sexy Monica Bellucci, best sex scene in an action movie ever, expectedly horrible one-liners, and incredible action!
Who Should See It: Actioners that know plot is only necessary for "bad" action movies. Seriously, if the action is good enough, why spoil it with a bunch of exposition?
How Soon: Watch it in the theater if you feel a pressing need to see nameless hordes die in inventive and entertaining ways, otherwise feel free to wait for DVD.

A pretty fair maid once begat
Three male triplets named Matt, Pat and Tat.
Twas fun in the breeding,
But hell in the feeding
For she hadn't a spare tit for Tat.
The limerick is from the movie. Grog found it... cause he's awesome like that!
